What it reads
What is being said about each coin, where, by how many people, and how quickly it is changing. The change matters more than the level. If people have always been gloomy about something, that is not news. If they turned gloomy this morning, it is.
Why it is kept separate
Mixed into the price figures, the mood gets lost. A single combined score cannot tell you that the order book looks fine while the mood has turned. You want to know when that happens, so the two are read apart.
What it is not
It does not just count how many people typed a word. It weighs who is talking and how reliable that group has been before.
